Mike Lorrig, about
Mike Lorrig | - Los Angeles and New York based Still Life photographer, specializing in cosmetics, fashion accessories, off-figure apparel, jewelry, food for print and e-commerce.
I was born in Wisconsin and grew up in Germany. Early on I was fascinated with my Dad's instamatic, I loved the rotating flash cube and taking a photograph seemed an eventful task. Later, a book titled 'Kunst mit Photographie' inspired me to see beyond and experiment. Internships with galleries, fine art printmakers, photographers and the Munich Opera, all contributed to my interest in visual arts and lead me to explore photography as an art form and later commercially. I always liked the strong graphic style that kind of jumps into one's face.
Eventually I followed my american roots and was lucky to start an amazing career at a still life studio and then launch my own.
Since then I photographed many objects and stories for a range of clients and magazines on both coasts. Notes Hollywood Reporter's Carol McColgin "He is the master of lighting. He can take a product that cost $5 and make it look like $5,000. And he's the nicest guy".
The Mars Rover, million-dollar jewelry, the mysteries of a tomato can - it's all in there. Some images took a lot of planning and the collaborative effort of a team, some were the spontaneous by-product of an 'end of the day' production, some were created just for the fun of it.
